And to think they mocked me for my cloud pictures (Los Glaciares) - 7 & 8 March 2009

Another day, another bus ride. This one, though, didn't involve a border crossing. We moved on from El Calafate to El Chalten, a town built expressly to support tourism. I'm pretty well tuckered out - after a late lunch of empanadas and sweets I take a 6 hour nap. After the nap I eat dinner and then sleep again. Here's one of the few pictures I have of the town, with Mt. Fitzroy in the background:


The next morning (befitting all of our South American hiking, late morning) we started our hike. It was a very light day, only 3 hours of easy hiking. There was talk of doing a Tyrolian traverse, but it was too windy.
