Soliciting book recommendations

We're getting on the boat to Antarctica tomorrow, and I'm desperately looking for ways to kill time over the next three weeks.  Net-net, if you've  got any good books you think I should read please let me know :)

Did you read "Three Cups of Tea" by Greg Mortenson? It is about a climber/ER nurse who nearly dies on K2, and spends time recovering in a remote Pakistani village. He promises to raise money when he returns to the States to build them a school. Since then, he has founded the Central Asia Institute, which has built nearly 80 schools in Pakistan. The story is interesting, and not just about fundraising and mountain climbing, among other things during the course of the memoir he gets married, kidnapped by mullahs, and lives for a fair amount of time out of his car.
In a different vein, I recommend "The Discoverers" by Daniel Boorstin, it is fascinating, but a little hard to describe. He follows the history of the discoveries made in various fields, such as measuring and keeping time, navigation, medicine, writing and printing, etc.
Also, this might be too much of a "girl" book, but I really like Barbara Kingsolver, and the last thing I read by her was Prodigal Summer, which I thought was a fantastic novel.
Also, did you ever read Orson Scott Card's Ender books? If not, they are worth your time. Ender's Game is the first one, and I think my favorite of all of them is Ender's Shadow.

also really liked Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen. I don't know how into novels you are.... it actually reminded me of The Green Mile, though the stories are really in no way related. I think it was the tone of the storytelling.
Also, I am planning to reread Watership Down, as I have run across it several times recently, and haven't read it since I was a kid.
